I have started to create the Canyon shot in Maya where the canyons move past the camera as we close in on the character and his reaction. The process is a lot more straightforward than through Maya however I really dislike the outcome for this scene using After Effects. Previously I have used depth of field in work I completed in second and third year and felt it added a nice effect to my work. However, for the elements of this shot in particular, I don't think after affects is the appropriate method to create it.
I have since had to uninstall After Effects from my computer as I have been experiencing an issue with cache files that took up almost 100GB of storage space and really slowed down my computer.
I am hoping that by the time I need to use AE in post production for elements such as depth of field and added effects, that it will be safer to go in and out of the studio, so that I can use the program on the computers in department. However, if this is not the case I will reinstall the program on my laptop and really try and get to the bottom of why my computer frequently has this issue with the program.
For now, Maya and Photoshop work fine and these are the two programs I plan to rely on throughout the pre-production and production therefore I will try not to become too anxious over the issues with AE at this point in time.
