This week I have completed all the canyon shots and rendered all the backgrounds from I need at this point from Maya. I have then edited the shots together in Premiere Pro to test how the shots look edited together with the original pacing from my animatic.
I'm quite pleased with the results so far and I feel the blend between Photoshop and Maya works well. In some of the shots the character appears more 2D due to the contrast between the 2D character and the 3D Maya environments. However, I like this effect as I feel it adds to the surreal and dreamlike atmosphere I am attempting to achieve. The subtle contrast between the 2d and 3d helps add to the imagined aspect of the film since he is a 2D character imagining and exploring a 3D environment.
